Do you intend to have a long trip in a mountain, packed with adventure?  Then, Sierra Nevada mountain range in California offers you a long distance trail named John Muir Trail. This long distance trail is packed with adventure, as it passes through Yosemite, Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon. It takes you through the alpine forest, the natural mountain scenery and the average height of the trail lies around 2,400 m above ground level. Also known as the Americas most famous trail, it has its highest point at Mount Whitney (4,421) and the lowest point being Happy Isles (1,230 m).

Hikers who look for a long close to nature trip will have their best experience in these trails. They can stay till three weeks and still would have lot of things to explore and experience. It is one of the best places to hike! Ranked second after the West Coast Trail in Canada this trail offers you enough for a natural photographer’s appetite. Gives you lot of lakes for fishing, surrounded by breathtaking valleys, mountain climbing, mountain camping and a mild weather which stands perfect for hiking. These mountains offer you several walking trails which are even wheel chair accessible.

As long as this trail is concerned, it has four convenient stopping points which are; Starting from Yosemite Valley first one is 21 miles away, Tuolumne Meadows; second one to be 57 miles away, Red’s Meadows; third one is 85 miles away, Lake Edison; the last stop is 108 miles Muir Trail Camp. Here you can easily get resupplies and has resting points which you can take benefit of.

Though, if you think that the time period of three weeks that is required to hike is too long; then there are segregated trails which end in a shorter time and cover parts of the trail. Eight to twelve miles can be covered in a day with sufficient time to rest. In case, you are a regular hiker then you will be able to increase the speed and cover more area. So, while planning for the trips keep your speed and stoppages in mind.  If travelling in a group then plan according to the speed and convenience of the whole group.
